Yesterday I was privileged to take part in welcoming 400+ new Nefesh b'Nefesh Olim at Ben Gurion airport. The first of three flights this summer which will bring in a total of approximately 1500 Olim from North America was greeted by Prime Minister Sharon, Bibi, Sarat Haklita Tzippi Livni, Sallai Meridor, the founders of Nefesh b'Nefesh and President of El Al.

The ceremony was superbly organised (though some sort of cooling system would be in order) and I found the whole thing rather emotional. So many Olim committing themselves to Israel for ideological reasons makes a huge statement, places Aliyah firmly on the agenda and can only be good for the country as a whole.
