For the first time ever an El Al plane landed in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim State. It brought with it 90 tons of food and supplies, gifts from Israel to a country which was badly hit by the Tsunami. (Ha'aretz, JPost)
Israel has not had diplomatic relations with Indonesia for many years and the assistance did not carry any conditions or expectations that any sort of relations would be resumed as a result of therir having been given. The assistance is purely humanitarian, given to a country who's citizens probably don't think too much of Israel and who's representatives presumably join in the ritual condemnations at the UN.
Perhaps this assistance will go someway towards changing some incorrect perceptions.
I love this country for doing what's right, especially when it involves helping those who don't like us very much.
