Wild thing....

Hebrew word of the day is "Kipod" meaning Hedgehog, one of which I just bumped into whilst taking out the rubbish. I hadn't realised that they existed in Israel, although I've spotted another spiky critter, the porcupine or "Durban" (stress on the second syllable) whilst on Miluim - apparently they taste pretty good (presumably "like chicken") - just another useless thing I know as a result of the army.

A porcupine? Really? The big North American rodent with the long quills? You mean like this?

I didn't think they lived anywhere in the wild outside Canada and the northern US. How would one have gotten to Israel, and how would it have gotten loose?

yes - that's the one - I haven't a clue how they got here but they make a mess if you hit one by mistake.

Hey! I also came face to face with what I assume was a hedgehog a few months ago while walking sharona one night. I couldn't figure out if they are wild here or if someone's house pet got loose, but unless the hedgehog I saw made it over to your house then I'm guessing they just live wild here. Remind me to tell you a funny hedgehog story the next time I see you.
