Building on success

Liverpool received a crucial 9 million pound grant today in order to go ahead with the building of their new 60,000 seater stadium.

According to The Guardian, the new temple to the beautiful game will be built on a patch of land that is currently a car park which will, in years to come allow Liverpool to boast that they "paved a parking lot, put up a paradise".......

Gilly

update: got a letter printed in Guardian's Fiver with this poor gag - couldn't be prouder!!

update 2: from the following day "Gil Ben Mori's 'paved a parking lot, put up a paradise' comment (Friday's Fiver letters) was bordering on genius. Who did he steal it from?" - David B. - Thank you David - are you of the tribe?

But does Joni Mitchell know that the Kop is to be transformed into a new shopping centre in the Anfield/Breckfield area that will be called the Anfield Plaza - very continental! Must be true 'cos I heard it at a meeting in Liverpool this morning!

Our love to Mrs Gilly

Fast well from the Home of the Mighty Reds.

Anfield Plaza?! Gonna have to come back especially just to see that...

And that gag is really quite dreadful: I or my significant musical other might even quote you...

Superpharm - Plaza noch - they'll be making Liverpool city of culture next (I know!)

Yellow - yeuch - please restrain yourself.

Parrot - thanks for the back handed complement (I think...)

You love it you slag ;-)

You know I think this may be the closest I have been to greatness since giving the emeritus England captian a kippa at my step-sisters' wedding!
